Join a truly unique and regulated experience to observe and potentially swim alongside majestic humpback whales in their natural, open-ocean habitat.
Every year, between July and early November, the warm, pristine waters of French Polynesia become the sanctuary for migrating humpback whales. These gentle giants travel here specifically to breed or give birth, offering us a rare and breathtaking spectacle.
French Polynesia is one of the few destinations worldwide where highly regulated in-water observation of cetaceans is permitted. This is your opportunity to encounter these magnificent creatures in the deep blue!
Our priority is always the respect of the mammals and the safety of our passengers. Our professional and passionate guides ensure all interactions adhere strictly to the local government’s specific approach rules.
Whale Watching vs. Whale Swimming: Your Choice
This unique excursion offers two distinct ways to interact with the humpback whales:
- Whale Swimming (in-water observation) 6 person max:
The Thrill: The closest possible encounter, offering the chance to observe the whales underwater in their environment.
Requirements: This option is physically demanding and is reserved for strong swimmers proficient with snorkeling gear (fins, mask, snorkel). The in-water launch is strictly subject to the guide’s approval based on animal behavior and sea conditions. - Whale Watching (Boat Observation) 6 person max :
The Comfort: Enjoy the incredible surface displays (breaches, tail slaps, blows) from the safety and comfort of the boat.
Requirements: Accessible to all passengers, regardless of swimming ability or physical condition. This is the perfect option for those who prefer to stay dry or simply observe the spectacle from above.

Our Commitment to Responsible Ecotourism:

- We do not enter the water with whales already accompanied by three boats.
- We do not pursue whales that are moving quickly or trying to leave the area, as their energy reserves are vital for their migration back to Antarctica.
- Patience is Key! Whales hold their breath for 5-30 minutes. Trust your guide to maximize your viewing experience, as they constantly monitor whale behavior.
